Pinion Creek Falls

Pinion Creek Falls (36.47276, -94.23528) is one of the most easiest fall to get to. It is located in Bella Vista Ar. Once you park (36.47253, -94.23512) you will walk about 50 ft depending on where you park. To the bridge and once your on the bridge you are looking at the waterfall. There is a path on the right just past the bridge that will take you to the bottom of the fall. This is a very easy hike down to the bottom and a very short hike. We love coming here every time we visit the area. We put up our hammocks (which we like to do a lot) and just relax and enjoy of the sound of the water. The distance from where we parked to the base of the fall and back was a whole 1200 feet.

Tanyard Creek Falls

Tanyard Creek Falls is pretty and easy waterfall to get to. It’s located in Bella Vista, Ar. and it is a pretty short and very easy hike for all ages. The parking (36.47186, -94.26160) and the trailhead (36.47170, -94.26097) are right together. Part of the trail is asphalt the other half is rock. Once you start you will follow the asphalt trail to you cross the small bridge. As soon as you cross the bridge you will turn left (36.46931, -94.26058), this is also where the rock part of the trail begins. As you follow the trail you will come to a Y in the trail (36.46907, -94.25953). If you go to the left it will take you to the bottom of the lower fall. If you go right it will go to a viewing area at the bottom of the top fall. Tanyard Creek Falls (36.46820, -94.25796) is a nice fall and a popular wading area. Bingham Hollow Falls

Today we stopped for a short hike. This hike is very easy to get to the top of Bingham Hollow Falls (35.66222, -93.74665). The trail head and parking are at the same spot. (35.66092, -93.74544) This is a very good trail to the top of the falls and very easy. Once you get to the top of the falls the trail will be on your right looking down stream. It is close to the edge of the falls. This part of the hike is a little more difficult , but still easy overall. As you follow the trail you will come to a small Y in the trail. Take the trail to the right that goes up the somewhat rock stairs. As you get to the top the trail will curve to the left. Continue to follow the trail. You will then come to a small rocky runoff creek. It looks like a way down to the bottom, however it is not. Cross this and continue straight, the trail get less well traveled at this point. Once you get to this Break Point (35.66278, -93.74713) this where you will start down to the bottom. There is still a trail, but it is less traveled on. Once at the bottom Bingham Hollow Falls is just a little up stream. It’s a very nice place to just rest and relax and enjoy Mother Nature. There are several good trees where you can put a hammock or two. Map My Fitness had our hike 1.1 miles and GAIA had .91 miles. Below is our GAIA Track.

Wildman Twin Falls

Today we headed to Wildman Twin Falls. It’s located near Paris, Ar. and Mt. Magazine State Park. You will be parking (35.22838, -93.54941) right at the trailhead. Once you park the train is a ATV/Jeep trail. So it is a very easy hike at the start. You will hike a little over .25 miles. You will the come to the break point (35.22410, -93.54986) off the main trail. This trail is also well defined so very easy to follow. However it is a bit more challenging to get to Wildman Twin Falls. It is kind of steep and rocky. There is a rope to help you on your way down and back up. Once you reach the bottom you will be at the base of Wildman Twin Falls.(35.22446, -93.55083) It is a very beautiful fall and is a great area to just relax in a hammock and just enjoy nature. Map My Fitness had our hike 1.77 miles and GAIA had 1.03 miles. Below is our GAIA Track.

Hole in the Ground

Parking and trailhead are at the same location (34.66305, -93.89378). So we started our hike today on a nice sunny day. At the start of the hike it is a slight up hill walk for a little bit (always nice to go down hill at the end). And it is an easy trail to follow. Once at the top of the hill there is a nice view of the surrounding area (34.65659, -93.89087). As you continue to follow the trail we came to a point where we had to leave the main trail at (34.65427, -93.89320). Once you leave the main trail there is a slight sign of a trail (but it doesn’t last long). You will continue to make your way down the steep decent. As we got closer to the bottom of the hill we found an old trace road that we followed for a little bit. We left the trace road (34.65449, -93.89670) and made our way to the creek bed. Once at the creek bed we had to cross the creek (depending on the amount of water will determine the way it’s crossed). We were able to rock jump across today. Once we crossed we found a nice jeep road that we followed that took us straight to the falls (other than we had to cross the three more times). After the forth creek crossing you will come to Upper Hole in the Ground Falls  in less the .25 miles (34.64601, -93.89664). After you reach Upper Hole in the Ground Falls just follow the trail up to the left and then back down and you will arrive at Lower Hole in the ground Falls (34.64573, -93.89650). Today we brought our hammocks with us and relaxed for awhile before we headed back out. As we headed out we of course had to cross the creek several more times. After we cross for the last time is when we started our steep incline back to the top of the hill to reach the main top trail. This is a good heavy breathing incline, but not horrible. I would say this is a moderate hike with one strenuous climb uphill. Once we reached the top we were back on the mean trail (service road). So the way back to the parking is fairly easy. Map my fitness clocked our hike at 4.52 miles while GAIA clocked it at 3.77 miles. Below is a link to our GAIA track for you to use if you would like.

Long Devils Falls, Mystic Falls

We started our hike at Richland Creek Camping Ground. Parking cords are (35.79635, -92.93506). After we parked we headed to Falling Waters Creek (Which we had to cross). After we crossed the creek we followed the trail to Twin Falls. It is a very pretty and moderate hike. After about two miles we came to where Big Devils Fork Creek joins Richland Creek. Once we arrived at this junction we once again had to cross the creek, this time we crossed Richland Creek. The crossing cords are (35.80427, -92.95921). After we crossed we stayed on the right side of Big Devils Fork Creek as we headed upstream. About a half of a mile we arrived at Twin Falls (35.80570, -92.96400). Once we arrived we headed up the steep Slope, once at the top we headed towards Big Devils Fork Creek. Once we got to the creek we had to cross. Once across there is a trail that heads to a small camping area at the top and in between both creeks. Once we passed the camping area (35.80581, -92.96458) we needed to cross Long Devils Fork creek to get to Mystic Falls. After Mystic Falls we continued upstream (I would suggest crossing back over Long Devils Fork Creek), till we came to Long Devils/Jim Bob Falls (35.80804, -92.96831). After we rested a bit we headed back to Richland Creek Camp Ground following the same path back. Our total hike was right about 6.74 miles (using map my fitness, GAIA registered 5.58 miles), so make sure you give yourself plenty of time.

Terwilliger Falls

So today we decided to hike to Terwilliger Falls. We started at Richland Creek Campground (35.79639, -92.93517), Terwilliger Falls starts off just like Twin Falls does. The first thing you have to do is cross Falling Waters Creek, at least this is the only creek you have to cross to see Terwilliger Falls. Once we crossed Falling Waters Creek we headed upstream its little more than a half mile to the creek that Terwilliger Falls flows on. I would not suggest going to the creek and then head upstream. It’s a little more difficult that way. I would suggest head up the hill just before you get to the creek (35.79431, -92.93547), it’s a little easier of a hike. Once at the top we simple navigate our way upstream, there are three unnamed falls (35.79346, -92.93629 / 35.79331, -92.93662 / 35.79314, -92.93699) on the way to Terwilliger Falls. There is no good trail to get to Terwilliger Falls so we will have to navigate our way to fall. There were a few rocky and down trees that we had to tend to. Over all this is an easy moderate hike. Once we arrived at Terwilliger Falls (35.79219, -92.93945) we rested a bit and just enjoyed the falls. If you go to the right of the falls there is a way to get behind the fall. Which I have always thought was cool. After enjoying the fall we set out on our way out. Map my fitness clocked this hike at 1.78 miles and GAIA clocked it at 1.25 miles. Below is a link to our GAIA track.

Devon Falls, Milestone Falls

Today we headed off to find Devon Falls and Milestone Falls, we parked (35.82545, -92.94727). The trail starts off very easy and flat for the most part. Part of the trail is on an old jeep trail, you will come to a y in the trail (35.81408, -92.95296). At this point the trail start down a long moderate descend, and the trail gets a little harder to follow. Once your down the bottom of descend your path will veer to the right (35.81209, -92.95991). You will find a link to our at the bottom of the page. Now I’m not saying our track is the best, but if you follow it you will definitely find the falls. Once you get close to the creek if you stay to the right you will reach the top of the falls (we prefer to get to the bottom). If you want to get to the bottom you will need to find a way down to the creek before you reach the falls and go up the creek bed to get to the bottom. On our track you can see where we went down (35.81679, -92.96269) (which wasn’t to bad). Once at the bottom just follow the creek upstream about .10 of a mile (cords). After you finish checking out Devon Falls (35.81724, -92.96145), you will need to go back up to the top of the ridge and head towards Big Devils Fork Creek, we found a good spot to climb down to the creek bed (35.81600, -92.96321). Once your down to the creek bed if you look across the creek you will see a side fall the we named Sketchy Falls (35.81567, -92.96433). After enjoying the extra fall head upstream until you reach the Milestone Falls (35.82120, -92.96680). It can get a little interesting as you make your way to Milestone Falls. After enjoying the waterfall it was time to head back. We pretty much followed the same path back except not having to go back to Devon Falls. Map my fitness had our hike at 6.30 miles and GAIA has it at 5.18 miles.

Horsetail & Fuzzy Butt

Fuzzy Butt Falls is a fairly easy hike (the two horsetail falls are a little more challenging). We started our hike at the bridge that crosses Falling Water Creek (35.75283, -92.93837). The trailhead is right off the side of the road (35.75287, -92.93888) and is a pretty easy and well defined trail. We followed the trail till we got to the creek that Lower/Upper Horsetail Falls are on (35.75693, -92.93868). Stay to the left of the creek and go upstream, this part of the hike is the more challenging part. We of course came to Lower Horsetail Falls first (35.75251, -92.93717). Getting to the bottom is a little tricky, if you follow the creek bed there is a large bolder that you will have to get around. Or you can stay to the left a little bit and go down to the bottom on the other side of the bolder. Once done enjoying Lower Horsetail Falls we continued to climb the hill upstream to reach Upper Horsetail Falls (35.75654, -92.94227). Once done enjoying Upper Horsetail Falls we headed back down to the main trail that goes to Fussy Butt Falls. When we got back down to the bottom we crossed the creek. If you go downstream just a little there is a better place to cross the creek. Once the creek is crossed we continued to follow the trail till we reach the creek that Fussy Butt Falls is on. We went upstream into the opening for Fuzzy Butt Falls (35.76318, -92.93748). Just a few feet and you will arrive a Fuzzy Butt Falls (35.76361, -92.93824). As we started back there is a side trail (35.76302, -92.93742), that we did not take this trip. It will take you to west side of Six Fingers Falls, it gives you another view of the falls from a different angle. Once back on the main trail as you are headed back there is another spot that you can go back down to the creek (35.75779, -92.93821) to get a great view from the west side of Intersection Falls (35.75821, -92.93647). I have put two links below for two different GAIA tracks. Our most recent one where we did not go to Six Finger Falls and Intersection Falls. The other is a previous GAIA track where we did. Map my fitness has the total hike at 2.65 miles and GAIA has it at 2.30 miles.
